Blackstock was appointed by Notting Hill Genesis (NHG) in October 2020 to provide strategic crisis communications support in regards to a building-safety issue, and the subsequent decision to decant, at the Paragon Estate. 

Blackstock provided comprehensive support throughout the crisis, working both proactively and reactively to mitigate negative press and preserve NHG’s reputation. 

Our knowledge of the sector and wealth of experience dealing with crisis communications situations helped NHG to navigate complex messaging and extensive media interest. Our work ensured both positive and proactive engagement with the media, allowing NHG to receive broadly sympathetic coverage that landed its key messages.

We also provided extensive media training for senior NHG spokespeople in anticipation of any broadcast interviews and assisted with social media management for the duration of the crisis.

Blackstock also undertook media outreach and enabled proactive media interviews to take place with key national, broadcast, and trade titles to control the narrative and ensure NHG’s key messages were successfully delivered. This followed the creation and implementation of an extensive, detailed, and proactive strategy for communications.

While working to minimise negative media coverage, Blackstock also took a leading role in internal communications and both internal and external stakeholder management, including local politicians, regional authorities, and investors. Our work in this respect generated crucial goodwill for NHG. 

Our advice and understanding of reputation management enabled Blackstock to position NHG as a responsible, open, and transparent housing association that continues to play an essential role in meeting housing needs in London and the South East.

Following our crisis work, Blackstock was retained by NHG to assist with strategic communications and PR strategy.
